If I have to clarify one more thing of butter...
Blog #2 - Whole30 & Crave Health - 30 Day Reset Update
With a full work week in the books, Travis and I battled temptation so well! Travis' team brought in breakfast burrito's and pizza this week (ugh!). My team brought in donuts, sandwiches and CUPCAKES.....double ugh. It was tough to combat but, we keep reminding ourselves 1. its only for 30 days and 2. we WANT to be healthy! While I don't think a cupcake here and there is a bad thing, as long as you eat healthy normally and work out, it is HEALTHY to indulge.
We made some pretty amazing dishes this week, and my top favorite includes a chicken, apple hash. You guys, this recipe is super easy and its delicious, so good in fact I made it twice this week. I have included the recipe below in case anyone wants to give it a try!
The one thing I noticed about the meals we made this week is that almost every recipe calls for 'Clarified Butter'. I literally had to look at the tip in the cookbook that tells you to refer to the back for definitions. So basically, you heat unsalted butter to a simmer and all this white weird stuff comes to the top of your sauce pan. You have to then skim that off the top and throw it away... all you are left with is I guess better butter? I don't know, I still don't understand. Anyways I have had to clarify SO MUCH FREAKING BUTTER in the last 3 days that I never want to see butter again. The search to buy pre-clarified butter is on, and worth the investment. Believe me, you do not want to spend your night clarifying butter its like watching paint dry.
Now we are headed into the weekend where accountability can sometimes fly out the window. I have plans for Saturday & Sunday and have already meal prepped for my breakfast and lunch, so I don't put myself in a situation where I have to cheat! We will post a video and blog on Sunday to let you know how everything went, but were going in with high expectations.
PS. update on the headaches: They get better! Thursday night was AWFUL, I had to hide my face from all light and sound. Today, was a totally different story I had energy and the headaches were basically gone. The Crave Clean helps SO MUCH with the headaches and feeling awful, we take vitamins in the morning and at night which is so easy! It has been great to do these programs together, and really they go hand in hand. So if you are thinking of doing the Whole30, I would highly recommend looking into the Crave Clean as well
See you Sunday!
