Whole30 Cookbook & Grocery Receipt

I have already learned SO MANY things after only 3 days on the Whole30 & Crave Clean. I have learned that I am not missing a lot of the things we cut out, which is a great sign! I have noticed that I am cooking, a lot...like a lot, and that life and schedules do not always go to plan.

Day Before start (Sunday): This day was spent planning out each meal, and ingredients we would need for breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday - Friday. I doubled each recipe just in case we ran into any troubles, which turns out was the smartest idea I have ever had. Fred Meyers was a great place to do a lot of shopping, but any meat you purchase is going to be expensive. We did a little research on this topic, Fred Meyer vs Local Butcher vs Costco... in this weeks case Costco won. FYI Costco is great for certain spices as well... I bought a small container of Red Pepper Flakes for $4-$6 at Fred Meyer, and Costco has a GIANT bottle for $2.99. Anyways, planning is KEY when meal prepping for the week. I bought containers from amazon that ended up also being a very smart decision (you can find them here - Click Here! ).

Monday/ Day 1: We were extremely pumped and excited to start. We brought breakfast and lunch to work with us and it was really good! I am doing a water challenge along with all of this, so I am drinking a gallon of water a day, leaving me less snacky than usual. Travis and I are lucky enough to have a job at the same company, and work the same schedule (Go team Z!) so this part of the challenge is super easy for us because we keep each other accountable at work. We are also lucky enough to work 6am-2:30pm which has saved me when it comes to cooking dinner and doing more meal prep! We both didnt feel much different on Day 1, but that is because our bodies hadnt gone into shock yet... Also, if you are cooking for 2 makes sure your significant other does not demolish their food portions, forcing you to get back in the kitchen and make yourself a meal for the next day. I think I was cooking from about 3:30pm- 8:30pm this day and it was mentally draining. Also the dish situation was NOT ideal, i never want to touch a sink again in my life.

Tuesday/ Day 2: The headaches, and the exhaustion is REAL friends. One full day without caffeine, alcohol, gluten, dairy, sugar NADA NOTHING makes you a tired, caffeine deprived crazy person. My headache lasted all day, and so did Trav's, we also felt a little more hungry than usual but that's because i forgot to pack us breakfast so we went with hard boiled eggs that are provided at work. Drinking water didn't help much, and it was us fighting our bodies all day long. I can tell you that right when we got home, I cooked dinner, ate, went to get in the shower by 6pm but my bed looked really nice....I woke up at 4:40am the next morning wondering what the hell happened. This my friends is just the beginning....

Wednesday/ Day 3: After I woke up wondering what day it was, it was time to start Day 3. We did bring breakfast this time around, and had some pretty amazing leftovers from dinner we packed for lunch. I felt like I had more energy today, but then again I think i slept a million hours the night before...how could I not have energy?! Not too bad of a headache, but let me tell you both Travis and I are craving coffee like crazy! I knew both of us we dependent on coffee, but I really did not expect it to be this hard. Other cravings are obsolete thus far, but that is most likely going to change by next week. Travis and I have been researching Whole30 and Crave Clean approved snacks we can have, nothing interesting us so far, so if you have idea PLEASE GOD COMMENT BELOW... we will be forever in your debt. We have been sticking to a gallon of water and 3 meals a day, and i have to say i am feeling really good about it.

Overall, its been exhausting physically and mentally. If you are thinking about doing the Whole30 or the Crave Clean, know that the first week is going to suck... and its going to be extremely hard but once you get passed the first week you are GOLDEN!

I am so happy we decided to do this challenge, and we have had a lot of fun with it. We are video documenting a lot of things and will post this Sunday with our Vlog, so be on the lookout for that. The Vlog will include recipes, how to videos, feedback and our thoughts on starting each program.

Cant wait to see what the next couple days have in store!

See you all Friday!
