Nashville Zoo
Thinking about visiting the Nashville Zoo while in town, it’s for sure a must see especially with toddlers.
We went to the zoo on a Monday morning at about 11am, and let me tell you, if you are able to go on a weekday morning - take advantage!
We had practically the entire place to ourselves, and Sawyer had the freedom to run, chase, jump and enjoy all of the animals to the fullest.
The Nashville zoo is large, but not overwhelming. They have an interactive map so you can see where you are at in the zoo at all times, and what exhibits are coming up next. We used this a few times, and we were able to plan our stops and lunch break accordingly. Even if you don’t use the map, or know where you’re at in the zoo the layout seems to flow, picnic spots happen to be right where you need them and food options were open.
Two things that impressed me and my toddler, were the ability to pet and be in an enclosure with small kangaroos (amazing btw) as well as petting zoo within the zoo that had goats, alpaca, birds and tortoises!
Sawyer was not only able to get up close and personal with kangaroos - so freaking lucky, but was able to interact with lots of different animals instead of just viewing them from behind the glass, which he LOVED.
There were a ton of animals out when we went, and the really cool part is that the whole thing feel ‘interactive’ there is a bamboo forest that my one year old was blown away by. The Koi fish streams held her attention because of the waterfalls and sound of running water within the bamboo forest. You really feel submerged in the experience which I have not experienced in any other zoo.
They are building a brand new play area for kids near the entrance of the park, that I believe should be complete in 2022. To be honest I would get a membership just for the new playground - its massive and has everything you could ever dream of as a kid.
