As a new parent it is SO important to get outside, get sunlight, fresh air and get moving. I remember what it was like to feel held up in a dark hole that was my messy house with a newborn, I hadn’t showered in a week, I wasn’t eating or drinking nearly enough and I felt overwhelmed and lost. Getting outside for walks was one of the only things that brought some normalcy back to what was now my new normal.

My son was born in May in the PNW so, the weather is everywhere. One day its super sunny and hot, the next its raining and cold, will it snow- probably not but maybe!

Here is my set up for stroller time that I have, and still use 11 months later

UppaBaby Vista Stroller
UppaBaby Infant Insert
Stroller organizer
Rain Shield - For those rainy days
Stroller Sleeping Bag - For those cold but dry days
Teething Toy
Burp Rag
Aiden & Anais Swaddle
Thicker baby blanket for cold days/mornings
Portable Sound Machine
Stroller clips

The rain shield is key, especially for those of us living that pacific northwest life. The rumbler seat that comes with the Vista stroller will fit them up to like 40lbs which means several years old. I always have this at the bottom of my stroller for those moments that catch us off guard, it works great for windy days as well!

For those of you who have or will have newborns, I LOVED the infant insert and used this until my son was about 7ish months to give extra support and padding.

Make sure any toys you bring are secure with the stroller clips or some sort of other secure option, I cannot tell you how many toys i’ve lost around our neighborhood because my son decides to toss them the second i’m not looking. We play a game now, see if we can find the lost toys on our walks.

Other items I recommend to get later on, that you won’t use right away but that I am starting to find that i’m purchasing are:
Snack tray adapter
Cup holder
Travel bag (for when we eventually travel again)
Removable umbrella

* Just a note to my summer baby mamas, if you put a thin blanket over the bassinet or stroller, the temperature in the stroller rises by 5-10 degrees. Make sure if you are protecting baby from the sun you are also not baking them in the stroller. Use a fan and ensure baby is not sweating.

Happy walking mama.
